Well this is a really good question,i have been licenced since 1997,and i have enjoyed this/our/my
hobby ever since then, and with repects to this hobby going the way of the doe-doe birds, well,i think that if the hobby keeps
going down the rocky road it is now following, well who knows....
I know from first hand no-how that amateur radio here
in my fear city is just dead,be it computers,or other media,or interest's,i cant blame them.but the cold hard facts about
the demise of this hobby in the long run is OURSELVES,nobody else is going to KILL the hobby but US..we have too respect ourselves
first and help when WE are needed,as most of us try.
I try to keep active as possiable, but YES the dame computer racket
got me,and tell you the truth, the INTERNET is really starting to get rather boreing to me,computer hackers, bugs, operating
system crashes, gee wiz,im getting so sick of keeping this dame PC running and others that im just about ready to toss the
works of it out in front of 18wheeler going down the road.

Our amateur radio hobby was made/placed into service as a safegaurd for our countries sake, when all else fails who do
you think our goverments well turn too? wont be the commercial guys or gals,it well be us,so why would any goverment in any
country kill off such a valuable service? the answer is NADA! not a chance,we may not think that we as a COMMUNITY can or
has the technical background enough to help..BUT WE DO!
PACKET RADIO / BPSK / RTTY / PACTOR / AMTOR / SITOR / FAX / CW
/ SSB / SSTV what ever,we can do it,we have the knowledge too put this into service, and it is IN USE ALL OVER THE WORLD. What
we have to do,is get off our high horses and get out there, get on the band wagon, and stir up some GOOD OPERATORS,we should
be makeing an example for all that follow in OUR foot steps, and put a GREAT NAME back on our hobby of AMATEUR RADIO.
CW
might not be required for a HF licence anymore, but do it stop hams from useing it....NOPE. we still use SSB...but we still
use it.
we as a community well always be here,no matter if it's just for passing out water bottles at a raceing event,or
providing communications when all OTHER systems and NETWORKS fail to work.
Nope this hobby well never die,go away,or be
a figment of anybody's imagination,we as a community MUST pull together,Help out when we can,TRY new and OLD networks and
systems,we have to keep the POLITICS out of amateur radio period. this in it self is going to be one of the major downfalls
of this hobby,i for one HATE and DISPISE the politics of amateur radio,i have went to many club meetings,ONLY to be totally
100% turned off from it because of the OVERHEAD and POLITICS of the clubs in general.
I AM NOT POINTING FINGERS HERE FOLKS,JUST
FACTS AS I SEE IT!!
Come on hams,we as a community can come up with something better to do then beat this foolish topic
to death,i for one am going back on my PACKET system and get some packet racket going, and gab some more on 20m and 10m.
for
other words, there lots of other things we can do besides worrying about something that well NEVER HAPPEN.
73 folks..thanks
for reading...ta
